FREEDOM, etc.

As usual, I have too much stuff on my mind to sleep easy...

I got my math lab schedule today and consequently told my boss at RT that I would no longer be available to work there. YES! I only have Friday morning and Sunday morning left at the convenience store. But though I have been yearning for my freedom from RT for a while, it is somewhat bittersweet. I get along with just about everyone I have worked with, and we usually have a good time when I'm on duty. At least I made one good musician friend that I'll still be hanging out with once I'm done.

Last night Cosmo, Jenny, Jimmy, and a couple other people went to see the Dandy Warhols play in Dallas. A band called Spindrift opened for them and they were a lot of fun. Their sound was pretty unique. If you could imagine what Pulp Fiction would sound like if it were a band then that might be close. Rock and roll with a western/surf rock feel in some parts, and in others a kind of wall of sound production. They had lots of cool videos playing on a projector on both sides of the stage as well, which was cool. But the coolest thing about the band was that their bassist played a dual necked guitar/bass - basically a 6 string guitar and a bass guitar combined into one instrument. So now you know what I want for Christmas!

After the show Cosmo, Jenny and I decided to hit up a couple bars on Greenville Ave. This was probably a mistake (though we did not know that yet) since later we had to make a trip to Fort Worth to track down Jenny's keys that had wandered off with her brother. This would soon become the second time that Cosmo and I did not pay attention to where we were going while leaving north Dallas. We ended up taking a detour down 35E southbound and didn't realize it til we passed the exit for 287 north to Fort Worth. Long story short: trip to Fort Worth for the keys, stop at Whataburger for the burgers, trip back to Dallas to drop off the Jenny, and then finally back home to Denton where things are normal. We walked in the door at about 5:45 AM and I haven't fallen asleep faster in quite some time.

I am not oblivious to the fact that on several occasions over the past few weeks that sometimes I run on little or no sleep. Yes it is wearing me down, but at least I'm kicking ass in class so far. I blame my bad sleeping habits on my erratic work schedule, thanks RT. But as I mentioned before, I'm on my last week of work with the company so I will no longer be required to wake up at 3 AM some mornings, then go to class, etc. It will be nice to finally have a set schedule!

In other news, I've been invited to go hang out at Port Aransas on the second or third weekend of October with my mom and some of her friends. They are renting a condo on the beach and will be hanging out, probably fishing, staying up late, that kinda thing. I wonder if she will be bringing out the Harley Davidson for the trip. Heh. I love my mom and the biker chick she has become. Anyway, I'm hoping I can find a cute girl to tag along, or at least someone with an automobile. If all else fails I'll probably beg my stepmother to lend my old PT Cruiser to me that weekend. I haven't been to the beach in like four years or longer and I think I need to go. The beach is calling me. Yes it is.

I know that I haven't added any new songs to my list lately, but school is in session and I have to focus. Once I get far enough ahead I will probably start adding more songs. Until then, here's a cool music video.
